The Series 6 (S6 or S6 Open) is the current flagship — fresh, brand new, with a 3-year Lavoie-backed warranty and the full new service network. If you want something cheaper and still new-in-box, the S5/A5 is a great pick when available. For tight budgets, a well-maintained used S3 is still the classic entry point.
Yes — VanMoof was acquired by McLaren Applied spinoff Lavoie in 2023 and relaunched with the Series 6 in June 2025. The brand is actively selling new bikes in the Netherlands, Germany, France, UK, Belgium and more, with service and warranty back under the VanMoof name.
Yes. The Series 6 ships with a 3-year VanMoof/Lavoie warranty from the delivery date. EU consumers additionally benefit from a minimum 2-year legal guarantee on non-conformity — these run in parallel.
If you buy online from vanmoof.com within the EU or UK, you get a 14-day right of withdrawal — a legal cooling-off period. The bike must be in original packaging and ridden 25 km or less. In-store and reseller purchases have no guaranteed change-of-mind return.
The S6 is newer, backed by Lavoie's 3-year warranty, and comes with the refreshed Peak Design phone mount, improved motor and mechanical gearing. The S5/A5 is cheaper, proven, and still a fantastic ride — but stock is drying up. If you want the long-term bet, go S6.
The S6 has a classic top-tube frame. The S6 Open is the step-through version — lower top tube, easier to mount, great for dresses, skirts, shorter riders, or anyone who just doesn't want to swing a leg over a horizontal bar. Same motor, same electronics, same warranty.
Yes, if you check diagnostics first. The classic S3 issue is Error 44 (e-shifter). Pair Moofment to the bike over Bluetooth, read the live diagnostics, and walk away if the errors look dodgy.
Yes — the order buttons take you straight to vanmoof.com with a tracking parameter. If you end up buying, VanMoofer earns a small affiliate commission and you pay the exact same price. It's how the site, the apps, and the guides stay free and independent.
The S6 is the current flagship — but the conversation about the VanMoof Series 7 has already started. Removable battery, new display, and the X7/A7/S7 Open lineup question.
