After a year of strong European sales, VanMoof's flagship S6 series has officially crossed the Channel. Starting at £3,098, sold through 42 UK partners and at vanmoof.com, in three bold new colours.
The S6 is the first all-new VanMoof built since McLaren Applied took over the brand, and it arrives in the UK carrying a lot of expectation. European sales have comfortably beaten VanMoof's own forecasts since the summer 2025 launch. It's the only e-bike to win Gold at the iF Design Awards this year. And crucially for the UK, it lands with an actual service network behind it rather than private imports and hope.
Here's what's new, why it matters, and how it fits into British city riding.
What's on the bike
The S6 takes the iconic VanMoof silhouette and rebuilds everything inside the frame. The S6 Open has a lowered top tube for smaller riders similar to the old X series shape. Both share the same platform.
Headline upgrades
Three colours, each meant for city light
The S6 launches in the UK in three shades chosen to play with urban environments:
Electric Blue
Deep and confident. Pops under grey London skies.
Drift Black
Stealth mode. The classic VanMoof choice for commuters.
Pearl Mint
Soft and iridescent. Looks different every time you see it.
Why riding one in a British city makes sense
The S6 is a bike built for dense, unpredictable urban environments which describes pretty much every British city.
The connected ride
The electronics aren't an afterthought. The Halo Ring display, the integrated lights, the Bluetooth brain, the connectivity to your phone it's all baked into the frame. Riding a VanMoof feels different because the bike knows things. Battery state, lock status, service needs, the distance you've ridden since the last charge. It's a bike that talks back.
The fixed battery
The 487 Wh battery is integrated into the frame not removable. That decision has a cost (you can't pop it out to charge at your desk), but it pays for itself on the design side. The silhouette is pure. No battery latch, no cable to tuck away, no risk of battery theft. For flats in London, shared bike sheds, Victorian terrace hallways in Manchester or narrow Edinburgh tenement stairs, the fixed battery means less hassle, not more. Park, heel-kick lock, walk away.
The Boost
The S6's Boost is where the McLaren Applied influence shows up most. The throttle response is sharper, the delivery is cleaner. Hills stop being a category of road surface you avoid. The climb up Tottenham Court Road, Bristol's Park Street, the long grind up Lothian Road in Edinburgh all become things you just do. For UK cities built on hills (and that's most of them), the new Boost is the feature that justifies the price tag.
The security upgrade
UK bike theft is, to put it kindly, a problem. London alone logs 18,000+ bike thefts a year, and that's just reported ones. The S6's anti-theft system combines three things: VanMoof's built-in tracking, the Gen 6 Kick Lock's mechanical resistance, and Apple Find My integration as an independent locator. If the bike goes missing, you have three separate channels trying to find it. It's the strongest theft response VanMoof has shipped, and it's the single most important feature for anyone parking outside a Central London pub on a Friday night.
Moofment the rider app for your S6
The S6 ships with VanMoof's official app, which does the basics. If you want more native Bluetooth control, CityGuard speed zones for school runs, FOCUS dashboard, ride tracking, rider community, Apple Health sync, Home Assistant integration, and Live Activities on your Lock Screen Moofment is the rider-built companion.
It's a one-time App Store purchase. No subscription, no data selling. Works with every VanMoof series including the S6 and S6 Open.

The S6 is available now through 42 UK partner shops and directly from vanmoof.com. If you're in London, Manchester, Edinburgh, Bristol, Brighton, Leeds or most other major UK cities, there's a partner within reach. VanMoof's UK service operation is fully online, so warranty work, parts and repairs are all handled locally rather than shipped back to Amsterdam.
Price is £3,098 for both the S6 and S6 Open. The Suspension Seatpost is an optional extra at additional cost. Peak Design phone mount is included in the box.
The S6 lands in the UK carrying a lot of expectations. Based on European reviews and my own riding time, it earns them.
Is it worth £3,098?
In absolute terms, that's a lot of money for a bike. In context a fully connected, app-integrated, anti-theft-equipped e-bike with a 3-year warranty, a proper service network, and a design that's actually won international awards it's competitive. Nothing else in the UK market at this price point does what the S6 does.
If you commute in a UK city daily, if you've had a bike stolen before, if you want an e-bike that feels like a premium product rather than a plastic-clad compromise, the S6 is the bike to get. If you want the same thing for less, a used S5 in the £1,400–£2,200 range still does most of what the S6 does (see our S6 vs S5 comparison).
